Night & Day - "Modern Love Story"

This is a love story. It is an ode to the love I have for transitioning a casual work outfit to one suitable for an evening outing. It is a short story I dedicate to the love of style.

While working a "9-5", comfort is my top priority. Looking good while doing it is a close second! Lately, mustard has become one my favorite colors to wear. I find it to be best worn with black or denim in a dark wash. I appreciate the cinching of the waist while at the same time fitting loosely.

For a touch of flair, I paired this look with animal-print mule flats.

Never underestimate what a blazer can add to your ensemble - warmth, but make it fashion! Keeping with the simplicity, a watch is the only jewelry I chose to wear. Now let's get into this transition!

Styling Tip: Vertical lines in your wardrobe give the illusion of being taller and having a slender figure. Ex: vertical striped pieces, buttoned front closures, pleats, etc.

The addition of a long-line, neutral duster and booties quickly dresses up the entire look. I love stacking bracelets with my watch to amp it up a bit. I also wore a statement bracelet, necklace, and tassel earrings from Datgurl Bling - click the link for fashionable jewelry at affordable prices! Ditching my purse, I opted for a wallet, which dupes as a clutch.

I ended the night attending "a storytelling open mic on black love in all its shapes, sizes, and forms". The Whole Story, directed by the lovely Rachel Eseoghene Egboro, presented an open mic at the Phoenix Art Museum, giving storytellers five minutes to share their stories on "Modern Love".

This, ladies and gentlemen, is my story that I dedicate to my modern love of style. Thank you for listening.
